OT - Field Guide for Birds...

My 1980 RTP Field Guide is falling apart. Is the Peterson guide still the go-to book for ID? - TF

I currently use the Kaufman Field Guide to Birds of North America, and it works perfectly well for me.

I also have a few bird guides for Mexico/Central America.

Sibley. They have a couple regional guides, all very good

Peterson's is still good, but every birder I know down here carries the National Geographic one. MUCH easier to use than most:

I use 2. Sibley while in the field and then Vanner's Encyclopaedia of NA Birds to confirm.

The 2nd one is HUGE though, so tough to carry around.

Everyone – thanks for the info. I’m going to stop at the bookstore and look through the Sibley, Nat Geo & Kaufman.

WTP07 – “Sea Ray Sundancer 268 (OK, so NOT a piece of camera gear, but it gets me to the birds!!!)” That’s a lot of boat to blame on the birds!

nat geo, petersons and the big sibley's are the books I own. The regional sibley's are great, but the "The Sibley GUIDE TO BIRDS" is the best book out in my opinion and you can get a carrying case for it with a strap
