    One in 10,000

For the past week I've been standing at my daughter's school bus stop in the mornings looking at all the beautiful cherry tree leaves which had recently fallen. So this morning before leaving for work, figured I better see if there is anything unique I can photograph before they lose their colors.

After several minutes of wading through the eye-popping colors for that one leaf (sort of like going through a giant bowl of skittles and trying to find the perfect colored skittle), I found this one non-perfect one. Despite the fact that I don't like moving subjects or altering the soundings, this leaf was so unique to me that I ended up carrying it around and trying it in different settings.

Also a good chance to try out the new 50mm f/1.4 lens.

    Image #1: 50mm f/1.4 with 12mm extension tube
    Image #2: 50mm f/1.4 by itself
    Image #3: 300mm f/4L IS with 20mm extension tube

With colors like these, I guess I shouldn't be trying to go away to find subjects. Perhaps tomorrow I will use the tripod and the 180mm macro to try to improve on them.

    Thanks for looking.

Interesting. Thanks for reminding us that there is something to be said for looking for the "less than perfect" to photograph.

Thank you, Amber, Knight, Cassie, and Mule for your feedback!

I too like #1. I think it is the surrounding textures and colors which really make it stand out. I hope the details will hold together on at least an 8" x 12" print (I usually make a 13" x 19" image the "test" of whether an image is sellable). I really should not have been so lazy and got out the tripod. Kicking myself now as a tripoded shot with slightly more DOF would have been great.

Here is a few more from around the house shot over the weekend. The first one is an exceptionally heavy crop. These all all with the 180mm macro on a tripod

Don't worry, the leaves are practically all gone now so there won't be much more leaves images from me.

Lovely images again Loupey. I love how the red berries stand out with that colour background, I could almost reach out and pick them off my screen. That 180mm macro is some lens.
