Disappearing suet feeders...

Anybody else ever have this problem? So far I put up two feeders and went to look at them the next morning they are gone. I even attached one on the side of the house about 6 feet in the air.

I don't have proof but I think it is raccoons. Even if I bolt one to a tree and zip tie it shut I still think they would at least destroy/eat it.

I'm thinking about getting a wire tied from two trees and attach the feeder in the middle. Seems like a hassle to me but what ever works... and I can't take the feeders in every night because I am not at that house every night.

I have never had the entire feeder taken, but have had them opened up and had the suet taken. The squirrels would open them up and take off with a nice meal. Now I use a small piece of chain to hang them from a tree, and to keep them closed. They can't open them, and they can't chew threw the chain. A few years ago I made a large suet feeder out of hardware cloth and used a bungee cord to attach it to a tree out in the woods. It stayed right where I put it and I had no problems with raccoons.

I had an entire block eaten in one day, but haven't had my stolen yet.

I had a neighbor take down a feeder I had on pole in the woods behind my house, I had replaced it 4 times I thought it was racoons also. I asked her why she did it since it was not on her property she said that the birds poop on her deck ............ I used a laser range finder and her deck is 75 feet away from the feeder I guess there were no birds around before I put up the feeder

Ridiculous!

Sounds like someone needs to sprinkle a whole bag of seed around the entire periphery of the property line to make a point. Throw in some corn on the cob for the squirrels too!

Well I am sure no neighbor's are taking them. That's crazy!

I going to try to think of some crazy ideas to set up some feeders when I get time again. I will post pics if it looks interesting!

I hope I can defeat the raccoons but these suckers are quite smart.
