Sunday morning walk in the woods

I decided that since it is supposed to rain and wet snow this afternoon that morning was the best time to go for a walk. So I packed the camera and my 4 year old and his bike in the truck and off we went.

The walk into the woods was uneventful as everything scattered as we walked along the trail, but the walk back was quite interesting. My son learned on the way out to listen when daddy says "shhhh " because there just might be something interesting to see.

First thing we saw was this little guy: (Brown Creeper - Thanks PaulNJ )

Re: Sunday morning walk in the woods

Then we continued our walk back and stopped suddenly as a Robin landed directly in front of us only about 10 feet away...... and immediately following that a downy woodpecker emerged from the brush not 6 feet to our left.

All in all it was a decent walk and we made it back to the truck not 3 minutes before the rain. Next time he'll be walking and will have his camera too ... for the low angle perspective lol.

Great catch Jaedon! I see those little creepers all the time but can never get a shot of one because they do not sit still! I also like that last hairy image.

Yup, longer beak and no black bands/bars on the white tail feathers. Also, it looks a little larger than a downy (even in your images).

Re: Sunday morning walk in the woods

Thanks for the comments guys. The brown creeper was hell on wheels to get a decent shot of with the amount of movement it did. I was shooting fully manual focus at the time and I think I have carpal tunnel now from all the focusing and I think I wore out the focus ring

And thanks CK for correcting my WP shot .. I went over to the birding site I recently joined and corrected my post before anyone noticed lol. Now I only look like a partial idiot and not a complete one lol.
