Since I know my Loggerhead Shrike work is driving Paul nuts, figured I may as well toss another couple logs on the fire
These ones aren't for the meek. Captured using the 600mm f/4 with 2x TC, at last light of day. I was able to work my way up pretty close in both shots, so these are almost full frame images. The cost was I had to go to f/10 just to maintain enough DOF. The first was at 1/640, f/10, ISO 200, -4/3 EV, and 1200mm on the 1DsMII (off tripod, of course).
The second was a bit more challenging. Captured that one as the sun was disappearing for the day. I was fortunate that there was no wind, as I was shooting 1200mm, f/10, 1/125, ISO 200, -2/3 EV, off tripod, using the 1DsMII. I was literally able to see my heartbeat in the lens, and had to kind of "will" it still enough for the shot. No IS was used, as this would have interfered with the precison needed in focusing. Before anyone asks....YES...I do this kind of stuff just to see if I can pull it off
