I think I like my new camera :-)

had a couple of hours to play around with my m3358 close-up lens and my new H5. My old (oh where have you run off to??) H1 took pretty nice pictures in that combination, so I expected the H5 to do the same...but i was still pretty surprised at the output. Sony is doing something right in this camera, I think that the Big Name camera companies will really have a run for their money in the future market.

    C+C always appreciated.

i can see why you would like it.

i thought teaming up with zeiss on the lens was a good idea for sony.

my concern in what they refer to as "long distance images with amazing clarity"

how about showing us what the 12 x can do .

i shoot a lot of waterfowl out of the hunting blind and boat and i need a camera that can take great long distance shots that i can feel less anxious about about should it get wet.

Wow! We sell the H2 where I work, and we always wondered about the quality. Certainly it should be along these lines.

However, it is the photographer, and you have always (as far as I remember) posted some good stuff.

The long lens (432mm equivelent) is indeed very nice...these images were taken between about 300 and 350mm equiv, without taking the time to double check the EXIF. The heron i posted yesterday was taken at full zoom (72mm=432mm) and i was fairly happy with the result...there was a small amount of blur, but that was because of my caffeine addled hands rather than any fault of the camera. Even with the IS, it is hard to take handheld shots at full zoom. The sony H series are really remarkable fixed lens cameras, I would still take my old H1 back with pride if it were to be. Here is a replacement for the damselfly image, i found that I had PP the one with the best background but not the best foreground, this one has most of the subject in focus.
