I was watching a mid-sized blue dragonfly (sorry but that's about my extent of IDing dragonflies) and came across this damselfly corpse. Didn't think much about the corpse as there were tons of damselflies out.
Then, the dragonfly which had been sitting on the bank with me for a long time suddenly bursts into flight and nabs a green damselfly in mid-air - COOL! I'm trying to photograph it in flight as I can see the prey dangling (just what I've been after). But it quickly lands for 2 shots and takes off.
Even though two completely different species (and genus, order, fylum, whatever), it still seemed a bit like watching cannibalism. Funny too that even with all the blue ones, gray ones, and even orange ones flying all around, this dragonfly ate only the green ones. Picky eater.
