Need help to identify animal track

Was out walking Don Schaeffer, when we came across this track that really does not look like dog,i strongly think it resembles a bear track, what to you all think.

How big was it?? Was it bigger than your hand??
Looks like a bear track to me, but how prevalent are bears in this area and how big is the print will help determine what it is....

it was alittle bigger than a dogs print and yet it was the only one there, the mud was a skinny trail in te middle of a larger but dry trail, the place or park has bear warning signs up,near the highway, more like be bear smart signs ,other than warnings.but dog toes go more around the track with a definite seperation of the toes in their paw tracks, a bears track tends to be more forward toes and a flatter pad, like a humans.

Re: Need help to identify animal track

I'm no tracker so I have no real clue.

But, based on your observation that it was a little larger than a dog's, it seems too small to be a bear. Even a cub would have paws larger than most dogs I think.

The impression seems extremely shallow. Again, I think it is too shallow for a bear.

The big toe impression is HUGE. It almost looks like a footprint of a person sprinting on their toes. Not that I'm saying it is a person, just looks like it

Take this with a pinch of salt as I know nothing about tracking. To me it looks like a human hand clutching at the earth.

Looks like bear to me, particularly if there are bears in the area. My 0.02¢.

I've seen bear tracks before, and I would wager that this is a beat track.
