Lousy shots, but both firsts for me...

Figures the day after return my rental 50-500mm OS, I see tons of wildlife.

I thought this was a yellow rumped, but then I saw a flash of red on its head.

I'm pretty sure this is a ruby-crowned kinglet.








I spotted a large flash of grey as I was heading for my car. Took me a few minutes to figure out I was looking at a Kingfisher. At which point I believed I exclaimed "HOLY F***"... First time ever seeing a Kingfisher

Cara Rose, these aren't bad considering what you had to work with. I really hate it when the birds don't cooperate and come out to a clear area. I think I had pretty much the same reaction as you last week when I spotted a belted kingfisher for the first time ever. However your images turned out a lot better than mine! Nice job.

Looks like the Kingfisher wasn't too bothered by your presence, nice shots Cara, esp the bif.

Wonderful shots. Kingfishers are usually very spooky and take off before I can even get my eyes focused much less the camera.

300mm f/4 L IS. And the 300mm F/4 with a 1.4x TC. They're all heavily cropped.

Your Kingfisher shots are excellent. Very sharp even with the crop.
