Beautifull Specimen and well Captured C.J but theres something different with this one compared to your other work , it appears soft for some reason . Was this shot at high iso and then noise removed ? Please dont take this as critique ,i love the photo as is but i was just wondering

He's just playing on a mistake he once made by calling his 180 F3.5 macro a 1800 and sense of humor is always welcome

Great subject , angle, exposure , dof...... , but I do see the softness compared to previous posts. Is this shot through glass or maybe you edited differently?

Re: African Butterfly - Tucson Botanical Gardens

I wish I could blame it on something, but it was simply 'biological interface error' or, I just plain missed the 'good shot'. Shooting butterflies inside on a cloudy day is tough! (at least for me!)

I do want to add that it was quite an ego stroke for all the comments about it not being up to my 'usual quality'. I look at my shots from when I first got the camera to now and the improvement is due, in a large part, to the help everyone has offered in this forum.

    Critiques are welcome!!!!!!!

    Thanks tons,…thanks metric tons!

While I don't think I am a great photog, I know I can take an image quite well

Yesterday every image I took was not good in my mind due to the lighting. So I fully understand what you mean.

It looks sharp to me - perhaps because it is not as parallel to the DOF as your usual shots, it doesn't seem as sharp.

I like the lightness in the shadows. High contrast in images like this would kill it imo.
