Butterfly

This shot was taken at Magic Wings... a butterfly conservatory in South Deerfield, MA... shot was taken with Nikon D200 and Nikon 105mm micro lens... it's one of my favorites - critiques appreciated!

I see you're a fellow medium format shooter - just wondering if you still use it? For me, it's been rough trying to use film after exploiting digital now.

As for a critique on this image, I'll give it a go:
1) great job getting texture of the black wings to show - nice lighting angle
2) I'm not a fan of black-on-black in reference to the background. Don't know how much control you had on that one though
3) having the head of the butterfly nearly centered in the frame makes the image feel slightly heavy on the right half. I think you can crop out some of the left and top without losing the feel.

Butterfly, my favorite subject. I actually never knew of that place in Deerfield. I will have to check it out. I go to the Westford one.

Gorgeous shot. I have to find and vist a butterfly house, what a great idea, anyone know of any around Chicago?
