    Bird ID August 06

I haven't been out shooting all week, but I did come across this image taken a couple years ago. This was in a little pond outside of a zoo in northern WI.

    That's a black swan

I moved this post and made it a new ID thread because the "summer" thread is getting long.

I think we've had one of these before, but here's another gray catbird.

these were taken in june, in a place called fish springs (migratory hot spot i guess, for birds) it is just south of salt lake city. its a crop, and should be an easy id, i just don't know most birds :-)

    Re: Bird ID August 06

Here are a few I shot today at Hyper Humus. Things were kind of slow and at the start I was taking more pictures of bugs than birds then I ran into a few willing models. I think I know all of these but the sandpiper I'm not 100% and the smaller Egret I'm pretty sure of but it seems that this would be a pretty rare bird this far inland.

    Great egret
    Killdeer
Least sandpipers?(I think) with a solitary sandpiper(though it looks like a lesser yellowlegs with dirty legs too)

and that is a snowy egret

    Here's one…

Taken at our place on Sunday.

Paul already knows this one, so open to others.

This specimen hunts here every day. Myself and a guest watched it take three birds in the period of a couple hours, Friday morning.

I know, not the best shot, (shadows, etc.) but, for the Bird ID thread, I thought it (the image) to be sufficient.

    Actually I see atleast 5

great egrets, osprey, great blue heron, white ibis, possible wood stork, a green heron and a shore bird I can barely make out

I have no clue why you can't edit, but that's a nice image!

OK. Here's the rest of the varieties I found at Huntington Beach State Park. (#2 & # are the same bird, but he cracked me up with that walk and his landing!)
