Blizzard & nature
Driving home today through the blizzard that hit Central Indiana this critter ran out in front of me, by the time I could stop and get the camera out he was pretty far away so this isnt the best shot, but it isn't something you see every day in Indiana either.

Re: Blizzard & nature
That's great that you even got the shot.
I think it might look even better as a B&W.

Re: Blizzard & nature
I love getting that out of the blue chance shots, and this is a great example.
Looks like a fox but a big one at that! well caught.

Re: Blizzard & nature
Bev that's a coyote.
JS, I don't mind the soft effect of this image at all. That is what happens in the driving snow.
Thanks for sharing!

Re: Blizzard & nature
I've been hoping for a coyote in the snow shot this winter. If the weather isn't too bad this weekend, I may have to head to the woods. :)

Re: Blizzard & nature
Thanks everyone :)
This coyote has been in th area around 5 or 6 years and eats well as you can see. There are very few of them around. We do have several fox that run around near my house and drive my dog crazy. I have seen this coyote twice before but couldn't get a shot of it. The area I keep seeing him is about three miles from home.

Re: Blizzard & nature
Cool pic, and nice that you had such an opportunity.

Re: Blizzard & nature
It just hit me that this shot reminds me of a National Geographic video I saw years ago that was shot in Canada. Complete with the blizzard, only the coyote wasn't in a corn field.
I hope he isn't out running around tonight though, it's really cold -15 with wind chill.
Thanks for the comments!

Re: Blizzard & nature
You may have some wolves in your area too JS. :) A while back, there was a wolf killed by a car in Indiana. It was a taged wolf from northern Wisconsin. I have yet to see one in Wisconsin, but I'm still looking.

If you'd feed them they wouldn't come here :) Of course he may have liked the weather here better too....but not the past few weeks! It's more like Canada here....

Re: Blizzard & nature
Hey...!! There's nothing wrong with Canadian weather. It's like our beer, Strong and varied lol.

Re: Blizzard & nature
Yeah, it's fine if you keep it on YOUR side of the border.....:D
In fact today we are getting 4 more inches of snow.....but at least we finally hit 20 degrees, and by Wednesday that Canadian air will be out of here....and we'll be in the 40's on Thursday....but more snow before that at the cold front leaves....go figure.
