    Big and burly!
I had to walk at least a country mile for these shots. But, it was necessary if was to do business with this particular state park. They have a herd of bison that is the main draw for them. I was darned lucky they were where I was hoping they would be. They have 500 acres to roam and at times, you have to view them from 1/2 mile away. I also lucked out with the light. It was from the right direction and softly diffused by the thin clouds.

Great shots, Mike. Keep to your half mile distance! I've seen the videos they played at a Yellowstone visitor center of people getting gored because they tried to walk up to them.

No,no,no, boys. I said that at times you have to view them from 1/2 mile away. I got lucky and they were where I was told they might be. I was quite close. There was very minimal cropping on most of these. There was also a fence in between.

Nice job Mike. Dark subjects like this can be tricky to keep detail in the fur and see the eyes. Do you have these in a MN state park or were out west?

Very nice image! Was a fence between you and the bison?

My friend has a buffalo farm and I assure you they are not an animal to get close to in breeding season.

I loved every shot. Amazing. Have you ever been to Loan Elk Park in St. Louis they let you drive through and the deer, elk, bison and other animals are free to roam. They will get right next to your vehicle when you drive through. It's amazing. Unfortunately I did not have a camera at the time. Now I always have a camera but due to health can go some time in between trips and experiences. Really loved seeing these.
