Between the snow storms. Duck pond related...

My wife always chuckles when she sees me leave for a photoshoot out at the duck pond.
I had my tripod in the car so I decided to see what was so funny...
Now I know why the ducks fly off when I approach. Wouldn't you if you saw this coming at you...haha

While hiding out waiting for more ducks to return this little guy came by.

Only 10 feet from him, I think I'm in his personal space.

LOL!!! Looks like the racoon is having a heart attack.
Walk softly and carry a big lens.

If the racoon gets any closer you're going to have to bring him his own camera. - TF

I agree, I've never seen one during the day either.
I am guessing he/she just woke up from hibernation, was hungry and went out looking for food.

This cute little guy did not even notice me until it came around the bush I was hiding behind and that's when I snapped
the last shot, stood up and backed away.

Mine too. So I have my "shooting" gear in my truck and change when I arrive

That last one looks like he's about to go rabid on you.

I can't believe nobody commented on the cinnamon teal! Males in breeding plumage are amazing looking.

Very cool to see a raccoon during the day. I have seen a few during cloudy days feeding before, but hardly ever on sunny days. You get hungry , you eat

Thanks Paul for the ID on the Cinnamon Teal. I was wondering what it was but though it might be too far away for an ID.

Since they are in their breeding plumage does this mean they plan to stick around, mate and nest in the area?
I would love to be able to find a nest and photograph the eggs, hatchlings and first trip to the pond with mom.

They could nest anywhere on the west coast They may stay though if not pressured and if you see mating, they are their to stay

Love that last shot! Pity there wasn't someone handy to get a shot of your expression at that point....
