Get a LARGE blower and blow the dust off weekly. Also turn off your camera before switching lenses if you remember.

Paul is correct about the dust issue. The 1D series will suck up dust, try also to use a static mat when it is convenient. I set my Canons on a static mat (with it grounded of course) for a minute or so and then change the lens.

It helps. Also do this before blowing and when the static is discharged it won't just suck the dust back inside the body.

Good point about the larger sensors picking up more dust.

Question: I've heard that one should always turn off the camera before changing lenses. Is it because the electrostatic pulls in the dust? If so, does turning off the camera really dissipate the charge that fast? I almost always forget to turn my 10D off but I have not had a problem with too much dust getting in.

As for a static mat, that would be impossible for me. With 1 main lens, 3 extension tubes, and a 2x TC, I'm averaging about 10 configuration changes per every 2 hour hike.
