    A Couple from around Town

Been too busy at work to do any heavy duty shooting (you'll get no complaints from me about being too busy in this economy )

A couple shots from brief visits to my local metroparks over the last week or so. An eastern meadowlark in full song, a male eastern towhee (which I've only seen a few times), and an American Woodcock (my first).

Now if only I can get a good shot of the northern mockingbirds that have been hanging around the house all winter or the Carolina wrens which have been hanging around my woodpile for the last two years

Nice Loupey! We both got out first Woodcocks around the same time.
Never seen a towhee. Thanks for posting that.

Fantastic captures Loupey!! Love the red eyes on the Towhee and that last one resembles a Snipe to me

    Thanks for looking everyone.

From recent reports, the woodcocks should be gone from my area - and only visible at dawn/dusk. But this guy was hiding in plain sight and I thought it was a piece of wood from a distance. Lighting could have been better (in all of them really) but I'll take 'em

The woodcock is a bizarre looking bird. The meadowlark and towhee are gorgeous!
