First Try

I was home from school for the first time after getting my camera and was inspired by some of the other great bird shots on here to give it a try with some of the birds that were around the feeders. This is my first try at any sort of wildlife, especially birds, so any advice/critique/comments on these types of shots is warmly welcomed.

I like the neutral, clean backgrounds in #2 and #4. The background lighting in #3 is too harsh. The background is too busy in #1 and #5.

I like your level of detail in #2. Since the feet are obscured, I would have shot it from just slightly below the feeder than from slightly above - then there is less tendency to want to see what in the feeder.

#4 is my favorite as it has an emotional quality to it. The gentleness in how the bird is handling the seed goes very well with the mood that the lack of color conveys. Just a touch dark though. Being able to make out its eye would have been icing!
