Back @ the Horned Owl nest. Golden hour shots...

Went back to the Horned Owl nest to spend the early evening with them.
These were taken during the last hour of daylight. I manually WB to try and remove that golden hue.
Now I am not sure that was a good idea. Your CC welcome.

I have more feeding shots after sun down but need to PP them.

I think I can do that in PP the RAW by just changing the WB to say 7000-8000K, is that correct?

Mom was actually coming out of the nest to poop over the side :-0 didn't think anyone wanted see that, lol shortly after that shoot she left the nest for her first hunt.


EDIT:
No crop, No PP other than resized to 800x516, WB changed to 7000K
EXIF data still attached for camera settings.
Please don't yell at me for ISO 1600, the camera was preset (AP) f16 for a large DOF incase Papa flew in and I wanted the highest SS to freeze that action.

Other Critiques welcome...Are the first shots too gray? Do you prefer the golden hue of evening?

I think both WBs are really appealing, actually. It's going to come down to individual preference.

Bob, I think the 7000K WB gives more accurate color of the owl, and that color scheme seems more appealing to me. I think the golden hue is fairly normal for an evening sunset scene as well. I haven't enlarged the shot, but from the posted picture, ISO 1600 didn't seem to do much harm and it makes sense to get the SS you may have needed.

I like! I also like the golden quality of the early evening light.
I would never yell at anyone that used 1600 ISO. You use what you NEED to use to get the best exposure!

Thanks for your comments. I to am leaning towards the warmer tone.
So much for on the spot manual WB. I guess it's all part of the learning curve.

With what I have learned I hope to better the next time.

Hi Jeff,
I wanted to thank you for the spot meter tip.
Used it on this series and was very happy with the night time exposures.

ViewNX has a batch function for correcting WB, it's going to get a work out correcting 150 shots.
Looking forward to seeing these shots with the golden hue of evening light.

I prefer the golden hue ones myself. Very nice images!
