Baby Owl Update #2
It's been about 7 days since I visited this Great Horned Owl nest. I think this is Papa.
He is about half the size of Mama.
However, Mama may have molted her winter feathers, so I’m really not sure.
Hope you enjoy them...
300mm f4 on tripod with remote. WB auto this time. It's ~5PM
Photos are cropped of course.

It was about 70 degrees and the babies are panting. There is no shade.

I have a few action shots to post once I edit them. Two crows decided to come and harass the babies. Papa did not like that.

Thanks Ken.
Let me know the next time you are in town.
I'd be happy to show you my secret stash of raptor nests.
With your 400mm id bet you could do pretty well.

Looks like my next trip to Denver will be the first week of May. I'll give you heads up when confirmed, and I am looking forward to checking out your hidden raptor collection!

Your timing couldn't be better. I'll be at the Fruita Fat Tire Festival (mtn bikes) April 27 thru May 2nd. but free any day after that. I'm retired so weekdays work for me as well. There's a good chance we'll have baby Redtail hawks to shoot. Momma is still setting on the eggs. It's been 3 weeks. Hopefully the Owl nest tree will not be leaved out yet. In 2 weeks the baby owls might be ready to fly. Should be fun.
