    Bif

Definitely need practice, cars are easier as they (generally) stay on the track!

Good effort, Paul. If you keep after it, you will be a pro, or a raging alcoholic! After taking hundreds of shots with similar results, I have come to really enjoy shooting flowers!

    Re: Bif

I find I need a longer lens than for motorsport, and the behaviour is unpredictable.
I know the UK birds, but that last shot (an Ibis?) he flared and dropped into the reeds too fast for me to catch it. I didn't know what to look for to anticipate it, that seems to be the key.

That and knowing their behaviour day to day to get into the right position for a great shot. With only one day at the wetlands, and my first ever view of the eagle, caracara, well everything except coot and moorhen, I didn't expect so many shots to be worth viewing!

As the behaviour is unpredicatable, it also means you may not need a much longer lens for shooting BIF as they could be flying close to you before you know it. I don't think most photographers shoot every bird that fly by.

Aging eyes is correct. Birds in flight are hit and miss even if you know your subject well.
