    1st walk with new 70-200
Well since I got my new lens (nikon 70-200 2.8 VR) my work has decided to have us work 6 nights a week. So my free time is very limited. I did manage to get out and take some shots but haven't been able to post them yet. I also had the opportunity to take some photos of my cousin doing a half triathlon - some of them are posted in the sports section.

The more I get to play with this lens the more fun I am having !

The first 3 I was playing with the tubes on this lens, I don't quite remember which tubes I had on.

WoW, Ben, these are very nice!

I think you're going to like using tubes on your VR lens. You'll never look at your tripod the same way again (meaning you may never use it again).

Excellent timing catching the drop off the heron. The leaf in water is very tranquil.

Keep using that lens. Hope to see more with it soon.

Thanks Loupey for the kind words ! I didn't mean to invade the privacy of the bugs :aureola:

I was at the toy ummmmm camera shop today. Putting a Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 on hold for purchase during the Tamron workshop I am attending.

Chatted with the guy for a bit and we got to the subject about the Tamron 90mm macro - I have a feeling this lens is going to find its way into my bag also :D

Also chatted with him about the 2x vs 1.7x on the 70-200 and he said that the 1.7x will keep the sharpness and that it will lose some with the 2x he said definately go with the 1.7 - so that is on the list too ....

    so much to get -

LOL, I don't even go into the camera store anymore :p

Curious about the 17-50mm. Is the Sigma 18-50mm that you have listed not working out?

The Sigma lens and the Tamron lens were bought with my camera because at the time I didn't know much about the different types of lenses and what they can and can't do and the budget at the time was a major influence. So I opted for a "cheaper" set of lenses to learn with and figure out what I wanted to do. Well now after a year of shooting, reading, and talking with others, I have learned so much and now know what the limitations are of what I can and can't do with the glass I currently own. So its time to "upgrade" to the better glass, faster lenses, and get the ones that I want.

The Sigma has served me very well and produced great pics. So as I said its just an upgrade time to get what I want. The Tamron 17-50 gets some awesome reviews and is about 1/3 the cost of the nikon version. I like the fact of having 2.8 glass in the bag. And the barrel distortion is less on the tamron vs sigma and is virtually not there after about 24mm on the tamron where the sigma it gradually clears up throughout the whole zoom range.

So basically just looking to get a better, faster lens in this area.

The way it sounds the Sigma 18-50 and the Tamron 70-300 lenses out of my bag we were going to sell. But the kid has shown quite alot of interest in photography and we are going to look for a used D50 for him for xmas and pass the lenses down to him. If I had the $$ laying around I would upgrade to the D200 and give him mine. But not ready for that just yet.
