Olympus C-5050Z, underwater housing (for use at water parks, I'm not that adventurous! LOL)
I have had a casual love of photography for years, but started getting more serious about the hobby when I got my Olympus C-5050Z as part of my 10 year anniversary gift from my employer (my wifes idea).
I recently decided to concentrate more on the hobby, with the nagging idea that it could become a "2nd career" after I retire. (Not that I plan on retiring before at least another decade or two, but it never hurts to be prepared just in case...)
In the Fall of 2005 I took an on-line course through our local community college and upgraded to my Canon DSLR (my first SLR camera ever!). I love it and it rarely leaves my side. I have been known to stop the car at the side of the road to snap off a few shots of something that catches my eye. (Hence the window pod - instant stability unless the wind is too strong, which happens here in Central Illinois.)
My current "project" is to document some of the old barns in the area before they fall prey to the developers axe.
I'm currently a student working on my degree in economics, and I'll be applying to medical school in a little over a year. I'm interested in emergency medicine, international relations, and the Middle East.
I rock climb often, love the ocean, and travel when at all possible.
Born and raised behind the Orange Curtain. Schooled in science. Worked in a cube habitat for 6 years. Quit my job, to be a photographer/magazine editor and ride my bike more. Now I got my priorities straight.
i was always facinated by my dads Canon FTb. and that camera was bought in 1971 stood up to me playing with it and messing with it when i was 8, i was hooked. i like to travel which is convenient since my husband is in the army and we move ever 2-3 years. i paint many of the pictures i take. ive been all over south america and the galapagos my next goal is alaska.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO what a ride!
I was raised an army brat, traveling from place to place across Canada. We spent 2 years in Germany, where I got my first taste of photography. Cost of film processing put me off for a few decades, until digital cameras brought back the magic!
