I live in the foothills of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. I spend much of my time mountain biking and backpacking. I'm taking a digital photography class right now at a community college (a break from my math degree), and can't get enough. I'll be lugging around a slr in my pack and also taking shots at cycling races. I'm getting the technical aspects down pretty well at this point, and I hope to learn a lot more in the following years.

As a child I would always take pictures with my mom's Kodak Instamatic camera. LOL. My dad started to show me how to use his Minolta SLR but crashed his plane and died before I learned. I took that camera and taught myself how to use it. (Still have it somewhere.) In my mid-20's I upgraded to a Nikon FM2 and shot with that until kids came along. That necessitated the purchase of a camera with automatic settings so I could point-n-shoot my very active and rambunctious sons. When the digitals came out, I purchased an Olympus Camedia that I loved but it met with an untimely demise when my son crushed it under the seat of the truck. :( I now have a Canon PowerShot that I'm not crazy about. It does an awful job with close-up and macro shots. I miss my Olympus. Dropped and killed my Can
