could some of you guys critique my layout on my website? I added the negatives and I am not sure if the layout is too busy or not. I need another photographers view on it. All my friends and family say is "i dont know, it looks fine" :mad2:

    It looks fine!

To me it's a little busy just becuase everything is in black and white. Maybe if your name was in color, since you want that to stick out anyway, it would be a little easier on the eye.

I also think it wouble be cool if you could have all different pictures (no repeats) in the film reel along your header and sidebar. Don't know if that's possible though.

Other than that, it's pretty easy to navigate. I still don't know why people like to advertise their equipment on their webpages. It's the images that speak to people not your camera, lens, or flash.

    Good Job!

The rim of your bowl/mug in the intro photo is touching the bottom of your border. Consider putting the object as if floating in the background.

The filmstrip is very busy and gets busier with the cool writing for your tile. The film strip is just for design and not to truly display your work. I don't think it has to be clear/sharp. Make it more of a watermark by reducing the opacity.

    Just an idea.

    Re: my layout....

Are the menu items supposed to be on the negative or partly off? When I view it, it doesn't look right to me. The "g" in general and the "p" in photos are hard to see. It's like that in both Firefox and IE. I don't really like that I can't see the pictures on the negative going down. With them being partially covered by the menu it's frustrating to not be able to see them.

    Re: my layout....

i completely redid my layout. i designed the backround myself (using other peoples brushes and fonts) but i was aiming for a more simple kind of website, instead of my realy busy one... let me know what you all think. and im sure this is just one of many layout changes, since i have no life!

I really like the theme of the site, but the text is difficult to read. remember people have low tollerance for anything that requires effort ;)

better contrast between your text and background, without using pure white or pure black would really help, IMO.

Your banner text is kinda dificult to read too. I would consider a more basic font. If you like the script sytle, check out some of the handwriting fonts that do not go so far toward true flowing script.

Overall, the theme and content though are very well done!

Yes, exactly. I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this, as it is easily the most obvious flaw.

The main (green?) text is nearly impossible to read. I have two monitors, each with a different brightness setting, and on the one you simply can't read it at all. On the other (brighter) one, you can barely read it, but it's a strain.

There needs to be more contrast between the type and the bg...
