Inserting PS web galleries into an existing site
Is there an easy way to insert a photo gallery the you creat in photoshop, into an existing website? I have been wanting to redo my site for a long time, and I'm hoping I can use PS to create new galleries, and them insert them into my website. Is this possible?

Yeap, its possible. Of course I'm reading this thread right before I have to goto school, so I'll post more on it when I get home. Basically you'll just need to upload the index & folder that PS creates, and then link to that page using your homepage, or whatever other page you want to link to it from.

Thanks for the boost of confidence Jorge. Being at work is killing me, as I want to go home and try to figure all this out. I'm looking forward to any other advice you can give me on this.

Re: Inserting PS web galleries into an existing site
Well I'm not feeling to good today, I've have waaaay to many late nights this week and my body is trying to tell me to slow down, so I'm home now.
So here is what I do for the galleries, and I'm sure there is a faster/easier way to do it-
I just use the Automate command in PS to create the gallery.
I then move all the files into a folder, in the case that I just did called "Slides"
Then I'll upload that folder to my website (I'm using Adobe GoLive) to a folder I've called "Galleries"
Then once they're uploaded, I create a new link on my site, either on the homepage or "whats new" section or wherever you want that links to galleries/slides/index.html, and that will have it show up on your site. I'm in the process of uploading one now, and once its done I'll link it on my site.

Re: Inserting PS web galleries into an existing site
Well mjs already pointed some good elements here...but i'll have to ask: How are you creating your galleries in PS? accordingly an answer could be given...
Basically though, do you want an indexed page, where each thumbnail links to the larger photo? or do you want a slideshow type of gallery?
Why in PS btw? GoLive or Dreamweaver are much better (considering they are within the budget)

Re: Inserting PS web galleries into an existing site
Hey Marc,
I used PS to great the galleries on my site, which you already commented on in another thread. I thank you very much.
I do have Dreamweaver, and GoLive, but I felt the authomated functions in PS were much easier to create a user friendly gallery, and functional gallery. I don't know enough about DW to get real creative, and I have never figured out how to get GoLive to do anything other than frustrate me. :mad2:
To create my galleries, i used PS CS2. All you need to do is create a folder where you want your gallery saved, the go into the Bridge, and select the images you want in your gallery. Then go to Tools > Photoshop > Web Photo Gallery. In the dialog box that pops up, you can choose from about 20 differnt galleries. Select the info you want included, add a trademark if you want and hit OK. PS does everything, including resizing, and resaving your images, for the gallery, incuding thumbnails, and builds your gallery and index page. All you have to do, is upload it to your sever, and it's ready for veiwing.
For my site, I started out with my galleries, and added my header, and navigation links to that page, then I renamed them, then created a seperate index page for my site, and a few other pages.
I still have some changes I want to make to my site, but for my limited skills, this method worked very well, and was a huge time saver.

Re: Inserting PS web galleries into an existing site
Well,i think you can have a gander at DW now that you have both versions of your files as thumbs and large files, plus the fact that they are placed in folders should make things easier....
The thing to remember in DW is that it is pure HTML... which is why it is the best of the lot! Of course, using PS made "thumbing" much easier... I would however suggest you toy around with Dreamweaver and see the available templates they have there!
I realized after i commented here, that i already checked your site :D, but anyway!
So go ahead and have fun with DW, it sure is quite fun seeing your site change on the spot and done in as many ways as you can possibly imagine! hehehe!

Re: Inserting PS web galleries into an existing site
I have my site at Tripod. And there you can also create photo albums along with your web site. I create photo albums for each gallery that I want and then just link them to my main page. This makes for some very fast gallery edits. I have Dreamweaver and GoLive both but just don't have the time to figure them out.
