weird blue color when taking pictures
for work my lab recently got a nikon CP8800. We are having a problem taking macro shots but that is another story. My question today is about how a lot of the pictures are very blue. If I change a lot of the settings and zoom out enough I can sometimes get a picture with normal color (although it will be dark). Any idea how to get rid of the blue?

    Thanks for any help!

Whatever light you're using is much cooler in color temperature (more blue) than what the camera is set for. Set the manual white balance to match the light and you should be good to go.

First thing to check is the white balance. I have a hunch it's set for incandescent indoor lighting (which is warmer than daylight) and so the camera compensates with a heavy blue cast. IF it is already set on auto white balance, then I think you need to send the camera in for a white balance adjustment.

Gotta be a white balance problem. The "auto" white balance setting isn't always very good - not bad outdoors, but any other lighting it tends to be really inaccurate - this is true of most cameras.

Like Seb said, set it at "incandescent" if that's the light you're using, etc. You should be able to fine tune that setting as well - not positive on that camera. Some of them have + and - settings, like "incandescent -2" for example. Better yet would be a custom white balance but you'll have to do it for each shot. The manual will walk you through the steps to do this.

Maybe you can call these "The Blue Light Special".
