    Vivitar 285HV flash not working
    Hi

I have a Vivitar 285HV flash that has quit working. I was shooting pictures the other day and everything was fine until I tried to shoot a picture and I heard a snapping noise from inside the flash body. To me it sounded like a capacitor inside the flash "popped" and now the flash does not work. Has anyone every experienced this and if so, have they been able to fix the flash on their own.

    Thanks

Nothing like this, but they're notorious for breaking the hot shoe mount. It's very easy to do because it's pretty big and heavy for that little plastic mount (I've done it). That may break an internal connection, maybe not. Check that out and see if it's the problem.

If it is the shoe giving you problem
you can get metal replacement shoes that will fix that problem. I purchased two on E-Bay.
