    Tripod Decision....
I am trying to decide between the Slik 330DX and 700DX Tripods. I like the more compact size of the 330DX, but like the height and sturdiness of the 700DX. The 330's max height is 63" and the 700's is 74". I'm about 5'11". The prices for the 330DX and 700DX are $89.99 and $129.99 (respectively and are B&H prices)

Anyone have experience with either of these tripods? Would I be fine with the 63" or would the 74" be better. The 330 only weighs 3.5 lbs, while the 700 is 7 lbs, so the 330 would definately be more comfortable while strapped to my Lowepro backpack.

The heaviest equipment that would probably be on it is a Canon 10D w/ vertical grip, 420EX flash, and either a Canon 70-200L f/4 or f/2.8, plus the backpack if I could rig a hook to the center column.

    Thanks for any help.

HAVE YOU TRIED mounting the 10D with a grip and the 70-200F4 on EITHER???

MY 1D/100-400IS WON'T mount nicely on a 700DX due to the built-in grip and the tripod foot being close to the camera body ;)

the 700DX is best with the short column. I am the same height(a hair under 6')

YOUI can get closer to the ground!!!! THE HIGHER you go with the column the less stable your camera is ANYWAY.

I love the QR plate on the 700DX and I assure you..... IT will support a 500f4 QUITE NICELY WITHOUT the column extended
