Did you let it dry out before turning it on?

I take out the batteries, leave all of the doors ect. open and let it dry out as best as possible for at least a day or two. Some suggest alcohol bath after a dunking like that to displace and absorb the water, especially if its salt water. Being fresh water, I would just let it get good and dry, hopefully it will come back to life for you.

Yes by all means take out the battery! Put it in a warm place with a fan and let all the moisture dry out. It has to be completely dry before you install the battery. If moisture gets too many places it can permanently damage the camera.
