Tips for shooting at the beach

This Sunday I will be taking some family portraits at the beach with some sea oats as a backdrop in the photo, anyone have some any pointers or tips you could share with me. I haven't taken any portraits at the beach before and can use all the help I can get, Jeff

Re: Tips for shooting at the beach

    Jeff,
I have never done portraits on the beach, but have taken loads of pictures there. Here are some things I have learned to watch for, on a sunny day which I believe we are scheduled to have.
False exposure readings caused by glare off the sand and water.
"Hot" spots on your subject caused by reflections off the water.
Salt accumulating on lenses from spray or humidity.
Allowing photos of beach bunnies to some how get on your memory card or film.

I have gone over to the dark side, no more film.

Also depending on the time of day, fill flash can be helpful. Try to find a wind sheltered area to shot in if the wind is a problem.
