Technology question
I am being asked to work on a industrial application and have a question.
Is there technology available that will allow a digital camera to be permanently mounted and have the photo remotely taken. It will need to auto focus and then have the image and information from the camera sent directly to a pc, essentially by passing CF type card.
If anyone has any information please let me know. I have been searching but have been unable to find anything that will allow this to be done.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Re: Technology question
I know most webcams have this feature, but I think you are looking for something with a little more resolution, and without cables. My dad used to put in CCTV cameras in airports and design the systems they worked on, and I remember you could operate the camera remotely (pan, tilt, zoom), so I have reason to believe that the technology has advanced enough that you could buy a camera and remotely fire it, but I don't know what type of camera. Seems like you are wanting to have a DSLR or compact mounted and fire. I think I remember a thread a while back that talked about remotley firing a Canon DSLR from a computer, but I don't know if it saved directly to PC.
Probably doesn't help much, but I tried,
