    Tamron AF70-300mm
I am buying my first DSLR (Rebel XTI) and would like to get a zoom lens to use during my sons Little League games. My budget at this time is very tight. I can get the Tamron AF70-300mm DI LD Macro 1:2 lens through the exchange for 119.00. Would this lens be a decent choice considering my budget?
    tks for the help.

It should do you just fine as long as the light is good. I've had successful little league shoots with another 70-300 with similar f-stop range.

Hi, Have you considered buying the Rebel xt (Body Only) and investing in a Canon lens?

You can pick-up a xt body for very cheap right now.

Resolution between a 8mp and a 10mp is so little you won't notice it at all. You can always upgrade your camera body in a few years but your lenses are what you will keep for a very long time.

    Hope this helped.

This is a lens I have used for years. I have gotten some pretty good pictures with it. It is a bit soft on the long end, but the 1/2 life-size macro capability is a nice feature. The below picture is a pretty poor example because it isn't a 100% crop (and is slightly front focused), but perhaps can give you an idea of the reach. It is effectively a 420mm field of view on my 20D, and this coyote was a LONG way off the road.

And when I bought mine ~10 years ago they were $199, so 120 bucks seems a great deal.
