    Strange problem
    Hello,

When turning the aperture ring manually on my Sigma 30-700 super macro 2 it does not seem to register with my body any longer, but when I change it using the electronic switch on my Pentax MZ-6/ZX-L it seems to be ok. What happened is I accidently hit the DoF preview button while on the non A position on the aperture ring and had selected a different f-stop thru the lcd then what the ring was turned to. I've tried re-attaching the Sigma, taking the batteries out of the MZ-6/XZ-L too, and turning the ring manually still doesn't register on the lcd anylonger. time to worry? any guesses?

Do you have any other lenses that give a reading on the camera? And if so, do they?

If the others read normally, then I would say you blew a circuit in the lens - by either logical or electrical overload, or a physical parts clash. Yup, time to worry - especially if it's out of warranty.

Hmmm, the aperture ring isn't important to me anylonger anyway, I can keep the ring on the A position and do the rest on the lcd. I tried my wide zoom and it seems normal. I took a few meatballs out the window and it seems ok, I've even used the DoP button thru all the apertures and it is stopping down fine. Should it really be a problem?

p.s I've only had the lense for about a month, still got a warrenty card but half of it is in japanese, little tough to figure out!

Heck - if it's that new, take it back to the dealer.

Since I ordered this lense through an online dealer, I would probably need to ship it direct back to Sigma. I took some sample changing my aperture on the bodys LCD using wide and stopped down apertures, and the prints seemed to check out fine. I will probably have no use for the aperture ring anyway, and also, I believe Pentax has stopped making some lenses with an adjustable F stop ring.....!

Anyway, Sigma told me I can expect a 2 week repair time, which isn't too bad at all, but I can live without an aperture ring?
