    Sensor cleaning

I'm wondering who here cleans their own sensor, and what are the pitfalls ?
We have a clean room at work and inspection equipment I can adapt.

    Re: Sensor cleaning

Pete, I clean my own sensor, if and when it needs it, which currently seems to be about once or twice a year. I have the VisibleDust Arctic Butterfly kit and it seems to do the job. The first time I did it, I found it a little tricky, but once you have done it a couple of times it really is a fairly easy job. I usually try and get rid of as much of the "dust" as I can with the VisibleDust Zeeion Blower or something similar - sometimes that is good enough, sometimes not - that's when I resort to the liquids and the swabs. When I think I am finished, I just take a few pictures of a white wall or the blue sky and use these to assess the cleanliness - works for me...HTH.

    Cheers,

    WesternGuy

I did it once using a Rocket blower. There was nothing to it. But I guess I was lucky.

    Re: Sensor cleaning

Thanks for that WG and Don. Since posting I've found plenty of online info and the practical aspects dont seem too daunting, main problem being cost, the good cleaning kits are quite expensive compared to what I'm informed the local service agent charges per clean. I did a dust map shot and got a heck of a shock, so something has to be done. A blower first up then we'll see, as pollen is a bit of an issue at the moment.
