Photos always blurry

Hello, ive got a Canon Powershot a70 and have had it for a year. About a 2 months ago it started taking all blurry shots. Ive tried every setting to see if there was a problem, Ive reset the camera to defaults, and still its all blury, my dad has the same exact camera, and in the same situations his is sharp, while mine are blury. It seems that it always autofocuses to the same depth, which makes me think therse a problem with the IR. Anyone have any ideas what the problem is, how to fix it etc. Its a minimum of 100 dolars for Canon to fix it then more to fix the problem. I dont know if its worth it or just to buy a new camera, thanks. kj

Pretty good odds that you do have an autofocus problem. At $100 or more to repair it, relative to the price of a new camera - and if it's out of warranty (which it probably is) - I believe I would be looking to replace it.

And right at this time of year, I would wait a month or two before doing so. Why? Because most new models in this category - which generally either cost less, or offer more camera for the same money - are introduced to the market at the Photo Marketing Association (PMA) annual show, which takes place in February. Most of the new models introduced there, will either be arriving at the stores as the show takes place, or will be available by early March.

Actually $100 sounds pretty low... I'd bet it would be more than that by the time it's done. And the warranty from a repair usually isn't very long. The newer version of that camera (A75) is about $190, and that's what I'd go with - or like Clemmie says, maybe wait a month or two to see what new cameras come out. The problem with waiting is that there will always be newer better, cheaper cameras out there - especially compact digitals!
