"Red Eye" on a Slide

I have a slide that I would very much like to use in a presentation. Unfortunately, the individual (full body shot) has a very noticeable case of "red eye." Any way to doctor the slide to get rid of it?

You'd probably need a microscope to do it :D ! I've never done any retouching - at least directly on film. It's something probably left to a good lab and usually done to negatives, but I don't see why it can't be done. You want to remove red from the eye and replace it with a darker color - anything you add (like retoucher's dyes, paints or whatever they're called) will block transmitted light (from the projector) and make the eyes darker, getting rid of the light.

To be on the safe side, take a high resolution scan of it before the retouching is done. If you're not happy with the retouching you've got a problem; it's probably not reversible. At least you have a digital copy that can be dealt with in Photoshop. Digital files can be output back onto film but that's expensive - check with a pro lab like the one you find for retouching.
