problems downloading from memory card

Hi

Im new, so apologies if this topic has already been discussed a million times.

I recently bought my first new memory card and took loads of photos. after trying to download them today my computer keeps saying: "There are no images in the camera or camera folder".

Is this because i should have formatted the memory card first? And if so, have i lost all my images? The photos show up on the camera, its just my computer won't recognise them as being there..

Sure, an old subject, but if it's happening to you for the first time, no problem bringing it up again...

How exactly are you trying to download the images to your computer? Directly from the camera, or from a card reader?

Also, what camera software are you using?

If you're seeing the images in your camera, they're there, so don't panic...

im trying to download straight to the computer from my canon 300d using canon rawshooter.

it has no problems with my over memory cards but with the new sandisk ultra II it wont recognise it.

is it because i didn't format it?

think its sorted. i can view them through windows explorer and save them straight to my photos. i think once i have downloaded the photos and them formatted the memory card i should be ok.

Good. Windows Explorer is a better way to transfer files to your hd. You should also consider getting an inexpensive card reader instead of downloading straight from your camera.

Especially if it's all USB 2.0 - only way to fly! (Well, firewire would do it too...).
