Dead Sony DSC-700

Dear Friends,

Recently i bought a Sony DSC-700 digital camera. After using for a short period i kept it with batteries inside. After a month or so i tried to on the camera but there is no life.

Even after replacing the batteries there is no life. The Sony service centre asking the price of a new camera as the service charge.

Please help me to remedy this problem. I depend you all.

Hmm... have you tried to use an AC adapter with the camera? If you have, will it power on then?

Please double check the batteries as if one is installed backwards there will not be any voltage from the battery pack!

I Don't have an AC adaptor and also I don't know how to use it. If you friends teach me how to use it i will try the same. The Sony people saying that because of the battery leakage the main board is damaged. Please tell me have i to replace the main board and if it is so can you give me an approximate value.

Well if there's battery leakage into the main board you can pretty much call your camera a goner. It doesn't matter if you use an AC adapter or not, there's still acid on the board that probably dissolved or damaged something. You could try opening the camera up and looking inside to see if you can clean it up a bit, but forget trying to find a replacement board--it'll probably cost as much as the camera.

Yes if the batteries leaked it's buy new camera. The chemicals inside batteries will eat the traces and component leaks away, and is conductive when it's damp or wet.

So I have to agree with fx101 and the service center it's a goner.
