Canon 580EX would be the best choice it is designed to work with the features of E-TTL-II which is what the camera is capable of. Faster recycle between flashes and less drain on the batteries that the 550EX has and the 420EX, these would be a step backwards in the evolution of Digital photography and flashes. Just my two cents worth.

I agree with Peter, the 580EX is your best bet but it is expensive, that however (the expense) can be made up in a year if you use flash a lot as you will use fewer batteries. So far, since getting my 580EX in early October I have used just two sets of batteries in around 1700 flash shots. With the old flash I would have used a set every 200 shots or so there is a huge savings in the long run.

With the 20D (or any camera other than the 1D MKII N) no matter what flash you use you will have to figure out what the best WB is as it won't get the exact color match. The MKII N was optimized for the 580EX (or vice versa) and gives fantastic fill flash or sync flash color. I sent a flash shot to the paper and they didn't adjust anything, ran it as is!

Hey Peter? In your response above did you mean 550EX where you put 580EX the second time? :)
I do it too....it's as bad as camera numbers 1D D1.....

Magnetic underlay, try one of those, might actually help. I have also found using 50 mgs of deptran (an anti deppresive) helps or 2 mgs of Valium which is a muscle relaxant (formerly anti depressant) helps as well. But nothing beats a couple of belts of a good Scotch Whisky.

Mind if I send you a PM about something.
