    Need some advice

    Hi All,

I am planning on buying a SLR camera (not digital) and I needed some advice. I have taken some pictures with a SLR before but I still consider myself a beginner. Which camera would you suggest I should buy and why? I have read what the websites have to say about different cameras but I need some advice from real photographers. I love taking pictures of nature, places and people but all in natural light. Also I have a limited budget. I would appreciate any advice.

    Thanks,
    Sri

Welcome to the Forum Sri. There are tons of options out there for you. Is there any particular brand you ar interested it? Canon, Nikon, Minolta... Without knowing much about what features you want or need, it's pretty hard to give you a specific recomendation. I think the entry level film SLR's by most of today's manufacturers will meet your needs. They all have auto settings, as well as manual operations so as you learn more, you can take more control of the photo process. Think about the lenses you want, and compair those with the other brands as well as the camera bodies themselves.

I'm a Canon shooter so my first thought would be something like a Rebel K2 or T2, or even the Rebel GII. They will all give you an inexpensive starting platform that you can build on down the road. I'm sure the other manufactures have very similar cameras in their line up that would be just as good. Think about your future needs, and start building your system so you can meet those needs down the road.

    Re: Need some advice

Sri, there are a lot of photo magazines and internet websites that can help you narrow down what you are looking for. You can read a lot of magazines at once by going to a bookstore or even the library, sites on the internet can be Googled. I would suggest doing some research on your own and learning enough about cameras so that you can learn what are "must haves" for you (for example, built in flash, manual settings, length of lenses), then narrowing down your selection to a few choices and getting more specific advice through this forum. Good luck!
