    Help Needed

    Hi,
Im new on here and i really could do with some help.
I have got a holiday booked in November, going to Kenya. We are going on a 4 day safari.
I dont currently own a digital camera, but i am looking to buy one for this holiday. I have been told i want one with a good zoom, and i am looking at around 7 megapixels (i think). I dont really want to spend that much no more than £200.00 really.

I have been looking around and come across the Canon Power Shot A620, is this any good?

Any feedback or advice would be great.

    Thanks

Well, mega pixels are NOT the whole story. I have friends say "this doesn't take as good of picture as my old 3 mega pixel camera" which had been stolen, lost, or broken. I can tell you now that you will be wanting more zoom than you have no mater which camera you end up purchasing. There are some out there with 10X zoom lenses I would be looking at those (sony, olypus, fuji and some others) and try to get the fastest optics in the camera that you can afford. But unluckily they are not the small cameras

I haven't kept up with all of the models of digital cameras - it's almost a full time job!

My advice would be to get whatever camera well in advance of your trip. This will give you plenty of opportunity to use it and get comfortable with it. You wouldn't want to have to look at the manual all the time as with a brand new camera - and if you hit the wrong buttons you could delete your pictures. Also, you may want an extra battery - you may have options for recharging it on your trip but they might not be as convenient as being at home. Plenty of memory cards too, prices have really fallen with them in the last several months.
