    Help w/ Olympus Evolt 330

i just recently bought an Olympus Evolt 330 that came with a 14-45 mm lens.
i still don't know how all the functions work ... but when I use the manual focus it seems that nothing changes when i try to focus in on a single subject and blur the background... what am i doing wrong?

Manual focus means just that: you have to do the focusing by hand.

You'll get a much better response in the Olympus forum on this site.

If you want a blurred background, you need a larger f/stop. Larger f/stops have a small number and small f/stops have bigger numbers.

The focus ring will not work unless the camera is set to manual focus, just setting the camera to manual will not work. As Frog stated you change the f'/stop by pressing the +/- button down while turning the thumb wheel. That changes the depth of field.
