this lens is good for both 35mm and digital, its title 28 75 mm is for 35mm film camera.the equivalant focal length for digital, 7d, is 42-112.5mm.
buy it if you want 28-75mm f2.8 on maxxum 7.
    Mark.

This particular lens is actually being made by Tamron. It's a Tamron design, with some Minolta-engineered modifications (different coatings, and different focus gearing) to optimize it for the 7D's digital sensor. It also works fine with film, from what I hear.

Now, mainly shooting film, you could also get Tamron's regular version, which is about $150 cheaper - and have the same optics, with the coatings optimized for Film use. This wouldn't have the Minolta's 'D' encoder, though - so the final deciding factor may well be how much you actually use that feature.
