    manual or auto
    I am not sure which option to go with manual focus or auto focus they both have there pros and cons.

    You don't really have to choose
    Most current auto focus lenses can be turned off to be manual focus only. Or some lenses are auto focus with full time manual focus, which means that once autofocus is acheived you can still tweak it a bit by turning the barrel of the lens. Many Canon L series lenses work this way.

    If you use manual focus, you'll always have exactly what YOU want in focus, as opposed to what the CAMERA thinks should be in focus. As another stated, most AF lenses have a switch so that you can use either auto or manual. Good luck!

    Hey, you edited your question and made my reply look pointless, lol.

    Anyway, as long as the camera (not sure of any modern SLR's that don't) has both auto and manual controls, and the lens has an auto/manual switch, you have the best of both worlds.

    I often leave the central focussing zone selected on my Nikons, especially in poor light:

    1. Focus on the point on interest using the center focussing zone
    2. Hold focus
    3. Reframe the image (without zooming - this changes the focus point)
    4. Shoot

    I realised that this is how I usually work with the Leica (except that it's manual, of course). The only time when I really need continuous autofocus is when I'm trying to shoot a speeding object like a racing car, small child, pet dog, etc.

    If you get an elan7e or canon eos 3 you can use the focus points to focus in on what you want so that it don't have to be in the middle or so the camera don't choose the point for you.I still use the manual on the lense but since used the eye focus I find that the camera gets what I want and can focus it in much quicker than I can manually. I just wish my medium format cameras have it. but most slr cameras w/auto focus have manual focus points that you can tell the camera what to focus on
