    Macro lighting question...
Couldn't decide which forum so I ended up here...

When using constant lighting (not flash) for super close ups, I've been considering camera shake and object movement. What about light shake/movement? Another poster just mentioned using a hand-held flashlight. What if it's shaking? Won't the shadow 'movement' look like blur?

If the light is moving then you might get bright spots in the photo and darker spots in the photo and medium-lit spots too. Shadows will also be softened. Try to keep the lighting still, unless you want to be creative and experiment.

The subject shouldn't blur if the light is moving – but the shadow edges will be softened.

I have used flashlights before for macro work, and have been disappointed. Desk lamps combined with household items (e.g. office paper, masking tape, white fabric, etc.) work better if you are looking for cheap, affordable lighting.

I would not use a flash light unless that was my only choice (out in the field). The only problem like Alex said is the shadow edge would be shot but also you lighting with most flash light could be uneven.
