    Looking for software

I am looking for software, preferably free that will organize my old photos as my software that came with my dslr. (in folders by year, month and than date.) Anyone have any ideas on a easy program that could do this for me????

    Thanks in advance!!!!

    Re: Looking for software

There are some free photoviewing/cataloging but I use Thumbs Plus (under $100 and try before buy), and I'm very happy with it. It also can view RAW digicamera files with a plug in.

Putting them in folders is easy, I do it when I copy them to the computer.
Doesn't take me more than 30 seconds to create 2009/StPete/20090406/cf1,2,3 etc.
Other organisation requires a lot of effort in adding keywords to your photos so you can find things by subject.

    I don't use dates

I classify my pictures by Theme (Travels, People, Events, Semi-pro, etc) then by subject. Date is a meta-data in each image which is read and stored in a database by my library management software (ACDSee). Any time I want to see things by date I just pull up a calendar view - which gives me the number of pictures taken each day/month/year according to the view - then I just drill down and bring up thumbnails of the images from the database.

ACDSee is not freeware but it's not expensive either

    Re: Looking for software

Franglais, I actually have ACDsee. I will try that out.

SW, From this point forward anything coming from camera does get organized by shooting date. It is a matter of re-organizing existing photos.
