loading film problem =/

hi, i am somewhat a beginner, and i have loaded film before, but my current issue is that
i have a Phoenix SLR camera that uses 35mm film, and i loaded the film.
but after taking the 1st picture (after advancing and such), i accidently used the rewind crank and winded up the film all the way, without pressing the button on the bottom of the camera (which releases the spool i think =/).
does this mean that i have winded the film all the way back? or can i just continue to take pictures meaning that i just tightened the film within the film canister??

sry for any confusion, i am kinda new to photography T.T

Welcome to the Forum. I would say that you are good to go and should be able to keep shooting. I'm assuming that the film was loaded properly, and attached securely to the take up spool. Then when you used the rewind crank, all you were doing is tightening up the film that is already inside the canister. As long as your film is still attached to your take up spool you should be good to go. Just keep shooting away.

If you turned the rewind knob in the direction of the arrow, then you're winding it back into the canister. If you didn't go very far (say a turn or two max.) then put the lens cap on, press the shutter release and wind the film (using the film advance lever...) a couple of times to be safe. If you turned it the other way then it didn't do anything so I wouldn't worry about it.

One way to check to make sure that film is going thru the camera is that the rewind knob will turn a little bit by itself as you advance the film (with the film advance lever, the one operated with your right thumb). If you've taken a shot or two and the rewind knob hasn't moved as you've advanced the film, then you probably don't have any film going thru the camera. All part of the learning process and I can say this from personal experience...:)

It's good to know I'm not the only one who has done this. :) It is for this very reason that I tighten up the film inside the canister once it's loaded in my old manual SLR. Once I load the film, and I know it's secured on the take up spool, I rewind it to tighten up the slack within the canister. Then when I advance the film, I know the rewind spool with turn. I'm always a little worried that the film will advance by pulling out the slack film within the canister and not be tight enuf to move the rewinde knob. Then I would end up opening the camera back to reload the film, only to find that it was working properly and that it was just not tight enuf to move the rewind spool. Does that make sense?
