    unwanted picture shift

I have a digital camera which shows a shift in the photo, almost like a picture in picture shot. Any ideas what cause this shift

I have encluded the shot. Looking towards the left side you can see the shift as well as the tower is missing the bottom

Looks as if either the camera needs repair/replacement or you have a seriously corrupted memory card.

Does this show up on the display for the camera as well? If so your camera's processor appears to be going. If this is only show up once you load the pics on to a computer, format and then if need be, replace the Flash memory card. The grey(or any solid bar along an edge like this) at the bottom is a jpeg encoding/decoding error caused by missing data.

The overlap is a different type of data corruption from the bar. Both can be caused by either of the previously mentioned issues.

    Best of luck!

That's very strange! Do you have any other memory cards? Does this happen all the time? Just trying to narrow down the possibilities. You could try another memory card to see if it's the card you're using that's the problem - but if you're already using more than one and having the problem with all of them, then it's a camera problem. I think the chance that it's a card problem is pretty remote - probably a camera related problem so you'll have to send it in.

This can be a problem within the camera's CPU and memory. It needs to go in for repare. As to a memory card problem does it generate bad JPG files?
