    Lithium ion questions
How many shots will the typical lithium ion battery deliver? I am considering such a camera versus the AA metal hydride type and since I travel light for a month at a time with no charger, would one lithium ion battery in camera plus a spare do the job? thanks,Gary

As with so many questions.....it depends.......

Depends on what camera - what capacity battery - how much you're shooting - etc. etc.

As mentioned above it depends greatly on many factors......

Lithium batteries hold a charge longer than any other kind of battery on the market, maintaining 90% of its charge over approx. 10 years - so you might as well buy a few of them, just in case - especially if you are shooting digital.
There are many ways you can drag that battery out as long as possible, ie. turn off the af-assist light, minimize use of popup flash, avoid long exposures, use center weighted metering over 3D-matrix metering, and on digital cameras minimize using the LCD for previewing.

But yeah, it never hurts to have 2-3 spare batteries.

The nikonians battery guide might help shed some light on your situation:
